As moms, career women, ...This is so on-point, Lea! As moms, career women, people out walking for a cause, etc., it often feels like we're on stage performing. This quote reminds me of Robin Williams, and also of the cheerful, entertaining, dancing mom:

“Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci.” - Alan MooreMrs. Fitzroyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11310159804847661850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989017208846872303.post-959630503406653042014-08-12T09:10:02.878-05:002014-08-12T09:10:02.878-05:00I am so very very sad about "Robin Williams w...I am so very very sad about "Robin Williams was..." It breaks my heart and you're so right. We need to talk about it. We need to talk about it a lot. People need to understand that depression is a disease, and that those with a flare-up are not being selfish, or trying to hurt the ones they love. So much needs to be said about this - to the point where we all recognize symptoms more in others and in ourselves. xo
I'm glad you wrote this. Hugs. I think we have gotten better in the last few years about talking about this, but yes, more can be done. I was thinking about writing a post similar to this one. I suffer from depression, and have loved ones who have, too, and agree with you that we need to talk more and do more about it.Jessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02265893075132478091noreply@blogger.com
