DD loves her daddy! |
I have a confession. I would love to make some money by writing. I know, it's callous of me, but as an artist I do believe that in their most secret hearts of hearts, artists kind of want to sell out.
That said, thanks to the publicity of TheBump.com's Mommy Blog awards, I'm starting to get caught in some promotional nets. Right now, Warner Bros. pictures wants me to pimp one of their movies. It wouldn't be a paid promotion, but I'd get stuff. And those sorts of promotions open the door to opportunities to start making money writing a blog.
Here's the thing. I don't want to do this if it's going to alienate you, my readers. There's a high road and a low road, and while this movie probably is something I'd enjoy (a Rob Reiner coming-of-age flick) it certainly isn't exactly relevant.
So I ask you, my readers, who I respect and appreciate more than you can know... what should I do? Do you care about DVD giveaways, do you want me to stick to what I do best and keep writing all about the grublings and myself and M?
I would greatly appreciate all and any feedback. Thank you so much.

Take the free stuff Lea!!! Your not a sell out.
ReplyDeleteYou should make the money and the freebies for sure. It's not selling out, it's working with what you've got. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, I've been reading your blog for a little while now without really posting (sorry for being such a lurker!) I think you should value the work you do, and sometimes that means taking pay for your work. Go for it!
ReplyDeleteI just started reading your blog. I say go for it. Having twins is a tough job and if you can get stuff for free- well that's just a plus! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteKeep writing about you and your family. I don't care how many reviews/promotions you do.
ReplyDeleteIf this will lead to added income, go for it! There is nothing wrong with making some cash for the family <3
ReplyDeleteWhen you start taking money and freebies, you start writing ad copy. And this ad copy has even more credibility because we believe in you and we believe in your story. So I should think that the best solution is to set a high bar: products that you will and won't accept, products that you're willing to publicize and ones you're not. I get marketed to a million times a day, but if it's the real deal on things I care about, it's information and no longer advertising.
ReplyDeleteI love your stories about marriage and motherhood. I read for those. If there's some truthful information, that's great. If there's a lot of shilling, I might move on.
I would go for it...
