Six years ago this month, my amazing husband-to-be completed a Herculean task.
He burned hundreds of CDs, and labeled them all with individualized labels. Those labels had the names and tables (named for our favorite restaurants) of every guest at our wedding.
Very few of these songs were explicitly "mine" or "his." They are really, fundamentally, all "our songs." When you're as obsessed with mix tapes as I am (and I'm very surprised if you haven't noticed by now how seriously I take them), you don't marry somebody who doesn't take their music just as seriously. You marry somebody who's just as dedicated to the perfect song choices, the perfect order, the perfect MIX.
So what was on the CD?
For this week's Twisted Mix Tape Tuesday I present to you, without further comment, our wedding CD.
Enjoy!
Oh my gosh I love this so much. It is so sweet and also awesome. I don't even care that there's a gagillion songs on here :-) That is a great mix. You know Elvis' version of My Funny Valentine is my favorite. It's the only version that makes me feel like he really means it, you know?
ReplyDeleteYou guys are awesome. We didn't have a traditional wedding, with people and stuff. But I still give out mixtapes for special events!
Okay, now you've got me looking throughout Amazon.com for the live version of "At Last" that I hadn't heard before by Stevie Nicks. Recognized all the rest except for Moldy Peaches. Gotta say, that was a great idea for the guests. I'm a mix cd person, too. Just did an eleven disc set of 60's & 70's rock hits this last weekend. Nice list! Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt's from a Thoreau Foundation fundraiser- a SPECTACULAR concert album. :)

Wow! I don't feel so bad now about my mixtapes that have tons of songs. Sometimes you just can't help yourself, especially when you've got something special to share! :-) Some great stuff here! LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteLike minded! I shared part of my wedding favor CD too! Ours are very different but still very good!
ReplyDeleteNo question-love this list, but my favorite would be At Last by Stevie Nicks.
